Mercedes Benz SLR
The SLR McLaren is a sports car jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive, built in Portsmouth at the McLaren Technology Centre. Daimler AG, owner of Mercedes-Benz, also owns 40% of the McLaren Group. Due to the automatic gear box, its front mid-engined arrangement and its driving characteristics some commentators classify the SLR McLaren as a GT. Some competitors in this class would be the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
Mercedes-Benz has stated that they will build only 500 cars a year and sell them for a base price of USD 495,000.
Mercedes Benz CLS
The Mercedes-Benz CLS is an executive-size sedan based on the E-Class model. The “four door coupe” recalls the fastback saloon designs of Robert Opron in the 1970s and should combine the “strong, emotive charisma” of a coupe with the “comfort and practicality” of a saloon. First presented in Europe in autumn 2004, it offers a selection of high powered engines.
